Hailed as "an exciting soprano soloist" by the New York Times, Jolle Greenleaf has established herself as a leading specialist in repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. She completed her Master's degree at the Mannes College of Music, and soon after received the coveted Beebe Fellowship to study at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands.
In September 2005, she made her debut at Carnegie's Zankel Hall with Ton Koopman performing Bach's Trauerode. She is frequently heard in baroque masterworks including J.S. Bach's B Minor Mass, Christmas and Easter Oratorio, Magnificat and St. John Passion, John Blow's Venus and Adonis, Charpentier's Magnificat and Mass for 8 Voices, Handel's Jephtha and Messiah, Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, Purcell's King Arthur and Fairy Queen and with many ensembles and orchestras such as Apollo's Fire, Concert Royale, Folger Consort, Harvard Collegium, New York Collegium, NYS Baroque, Parthenia, Trinity Consort, and Vox Vocal Ensemble. Ms. Greenleaf is accomplished in the vocal music of J.S. Bach and has appeared in over 90 Bach cantata, motet and oratorio performances in New York and beyond.
Known for her expressiveness on stage, she is often engaged as a recitalist and has performed a variety of roles including Belinda in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Amour and Céphise in Rameau's Pygmalion, Licori in Vivaldi's La Fida Ninfa, and in the title role in Cavalli's La Calisto.
The 2006-2007 season highlights include performances of Handel's Messiah with Phoenix Symphony and Handel's Hercules at Princeton University, the medieval program Tales of Canterbury with the Folger Consort, Mozart's Vespers, Coronation Mass, and Exsultate Jubilate at St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, and Bach's St. John Passion with Apollo's Fire. In addition, she will play Dido in a concert performance of Dido and Aeneas with Westchester Oratorio Society. As a member of the acclaimed ensemble The Tiffany Consort, she is featured on their latest CD entitled In Sure and Certain Hope (The Choral Music of Nicholas White) released in December 2006. Ms. Greenleaf is the voice teacher to the boys of St. Thomas Choir in New York City.
