Born in Singapore,Mr.William Lim started singing when he was offered a place at Tokyo's Shobi Music Conservatoire under Madame Tokimo Sossi. In 1985, he entered the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts,studying with Michael Rippon for four years.Mr.Lim also studied under Rudolf Piernay at the Guildhall School of Music.In 1992,he took part in the Ross Ponselle International Voice Competition where he was awarded the Silver Rose.Mr. Lim then spent the next two years under Patrick McGuigan as a postgraduate student at the Royal Northern College of Music. Mr.Lim 's repertoire has included the role of Enrico (Lucia Di Lammermoor),Guglielmo(Cosi Fan Tutte),the title part in Verdi's Rigoletto.The Speaker (Die Zauberflote),the title role in Britten's Noye's Fludde,the title part in Mendelssohn's Elijah,Frank in J.Strauss'Die Fledermaus,the baritone part in the Asian premiere of Huang An Lun's oratorio psalm 22,Zuniga(Carmen),Sarastro(Die Zauberflote) and the bass part in Hayden's Nelson Mass.Mr.Lim has also participated in production of Ernani.The Medium,Un Ballo in Maschera,Leong Yoon Pin'Bunga Mawar and Don Giovanni as well as in a masterclass by Sherrill Milnes.He was one of the 25 semifinalists in the 33rd Franciso Vinas International Competition for voice in Barcelona.Mr.Lim is back as Tonio in Singapore Lyric Opera's production of Cavalleria Rusticana/Paliacci.He is currently now with the Philharmonic choir.
