Pedro d'Aquino
Ensemble Les Goûts-Réunis derives its name from the title of a collection of concerts by François Couperin published in 1724. It refers to the fusion of two distinct national styles of composition, the French and the Italian, both of which influenced music throughout Europe during the 18th century. The aim of this ensemble is to explore the enduring influence of French Baroque music, especially the long- and unjustly-neglected sacred repertoire, and its relationship to musical developments in Italy, England, Germany, and beyond. The ensemble is planning a series of events to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the death of Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1634-1704), one of the greatest and most prolific composers of his day. Programs will include his oratorios together with works of Giacomo Carissimi, and a Holy Week celebration of Charpentier's Leçons & Répons de Ténèbres.
