GARY RUSCHMAN (tenor), hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle for a “strong, clear tenor”, enjoys a diverse musical career, appearing regularly in concert, opera, jazz, theatre, and studio settings, but with a special love for contemporary and historically informed performance.
Notable solo engagements include Portland Opera (Mary Stuart Rogers Fellowship), the San Francisco Song Festival, San Francisco Opera Center, American Bach Soloists, California Chamber Symphony, California Bach Society, Berkeley Opera, West Bay Opera, Cincinnati Choral Society, Mendocino Music Festival, and five seasons with San Francisco Opera's Opera a la carte.
Mr. Ruschman’s recent concert highlights include Carmina Burana, The Creation, Elijah, Bach’s Mass in B minor, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Messiah, and the title role of Judas Maccabaeus. He also recently appeared in a UCTV telecast of Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass.
He has performed with American Bach Soloists since 1999, and is a member of CANTUS, the Minneapolis-based professional male vocal ensemble.
